Salaam VeiledBesties!

No more saying “I don’t know what to wear.” We’ll share ways on how to be modest, elegant, chic, and stylish. This year, we’ve got you covered (literally), and we can’t wait to share all of our exciting plans with you all.

This month on Covered In Style, we’re stepping into the world of Jumaanah Latif, a fashion influencer!

Ms. Latif experiments with tight and baggy clothing paired together in a modest way. As long as your awrah is covered, you’re good, sis! The appearance of the hijab is more vast than many think. Trust me, sister, by the end of reading this blog, you will be wowed by the uniqueness and diversity of modesty.

Wait! Before we get into it:

Don’t forget this week’s challenge at the end! Where you can apply all the tips and tricks we give you to your daily lives this month.

Let’s get into it →

@judajudabest

Meet Jumaanah Latif— A woman who dresses modestly and boldly.

Jumaanah isn’t just a modest fashion girl. Her presence causes people to reframe what modesty means. She is chic and intentional with all of her garments. With her out-of-this-world silhouette combinations and feminine style, she is always bound to turn heads.

Modesty isn’t boring, but simple. When you see Jumaanah, no one will ever mistake her for someone else. Her vibe, her energy, and her style can be equated to a fingerprint - no one else has the same one.

That’s the beauty of fashion. That’s the beauty of modesty. Eyes are on you, but not because we seek attention - it’s because when you dress, your aura and style already speak for you before you open your mouth when entering a room.

When you hear the word shaping in modest fashion, what does it mean to you—silhouette, intention, confidence, or something else entirely?

For me, shaping is power and resilience. It’s about how I decide to show up, regardless of what season of life I’m in. When my outfit feels intentional, it’s a reminder to myself of who I am and what I carry. And that’s power to me.

How do you shape an outfit without showing shape? What are your go-to tricks for creating structure while staying modest?

 I mostly play around with placement. Where the eye lands matters. I’ll change proportions, let some pieces fall longer, and others sit higher. Sometimes it’s as small as how my hijab is styled. I’m not trying to show my body, but I’m not trying to disappear in the outfit either.

@judajudabest

What’s one misconception Muslim girls have about shaping their bodies through fashion that you wish you could unlearn for them?

That wanting shape automatically means you’re being immodest/uncovered. Modesty isn’t about looking frumpy. You’re allowed to feel good in what you wear.

Streetwear is often associated with oversized fits—how do you balance baggy pieces while still looking intentional and put-together?

Oversized still needs structure. Balance is important when it comes to baggy fits. If something is really loose, something else has to feel clean/sharp. Could be the shoes, the way I layer, or how everything sits together. Baggy doesn’t mean careless. It still has to make sense.

@judajudabest

How do colors, textures, or accessories play a role in shaping a look when the silhouette itself is relaxed or loose?

They make the whole story come together. The colors, textures, and accessories tie it all together. They make the look feel intentional instead of unfinished.

Can you walk us through an outfit where shaping completely transformed how you felt—whether that was through tailoring, layering, or styling choices?

Honestly, it’s usually in the layering for me. I’ve worn outfits that technically covered everything, but felt off. Cropped layers always do it for me. I switch the proportions, or adjust how things fall and it instantly changes the entire look. Same outfit, different energy. That shift matters.

What challenge would you give our girls this month to help them experiment with shaping their wardrobe in a way that feels authentic to them?

Wear something that feels bolder than what you’d normally wear. Nothing revealing… Just something that makes you feel like the empowered you and take up space without apologizing. Because you deserve to take up all the space you want!

Jumaanah Latif reminds us that modesty doesn’t stop you from feeling beautiful. When she enters a room, she does it with confidence, and everyone admires her aura. This is what happens when you are comfortable in the clothes you wear. If you are struggling with wearing the hijab, try to make it more personal to you.

So this month’s challenge? Try to dress a little outside your comfort zone, into a more relaxed, stylish, and loose outfit. Play with length and shape.

Here’s how to get started:

Wear a tight top or bottoms underneath loose clothing (to be your aura covered still). It can be underneath an abaya or an ankle length cardigan.

Perhaps the clothes could be laid back, but your shoes and accessories steal the show! All that matters is when you look in the mirror, you are happy with what you see 💖.

Take a pic, explain, and show us how you came out of your comfort zone. What does “I am fashion” mean to you? Tag us @veiledvisionaries_ so we can spotlight your looks this month.

xoxo,
